i´m not sure if it´s set in that i´m in mexico...

hey everyone so i´m going to be terrible at updates, but i´m going to try my hardest and im going to stop using apostrophes because i havent got my laptop yet and theyre in a different place on this keyboard.
where to start....
i finally arrived in puebla at like 5 in the morning on thursday, so 6 new york time. the flight from binghamton to washington dc was fine, but the airplane was the size of a schaffer bus. i got to washington around 4, if i recall correctly, and boarded for mexico city at 6. right as we were getting ready to head down the runway, i fell asleep. i woke up about an hour later, still in washington dc, and had no idea why. apparently there was a bad storm so we couldnt leave. i think that was the hardest part of my flight, sitting on the airplane for a long period of time, not moving, not leaving the u.s., which left too much time for thought. but finally, around 8 or 830 we finally left for mexico city. i think i arrived around 1, and had to wait at the airport for the bus to puebla for an hour. the bus ride was 2 or 3 hours, and i slept for most of it. wednesday was incredibly long.

i start school tomorrow at tecnologico de monterrey, and im incredibly nervous. the school is huuuuuge. part of it is a college and the other a high school. its so big and beautiful, my jaw dropped the first time i saw it. ill be sure to post pictures as soon as i get a usb cord for my camera. im really hoping i dont get lost, but i have about 2 and a half hours between my first and second class. so hopefully between those hours i can establish some kind of ground. its going to be so weird going to school since i havent been since january. i have gotten to know the 3 other girls from rotary that also go to tec, and my host brother, andres, goes there also. but honestly, im kind of excited because i will taking a spanish class agian, and that will definitely improve my spanish. its so hard to understand everyone, they speak so quickly. i can read spanish, i can write spanish, and i can tell you allllll about grammar, but conversation is another story. give me another week or two, and hopefully that will change. i cant wait for it to change :]

this weekend was the first rotary meeting for the inbounds, and i can testify to you that inbounds have more fun than outbounds. we went to la trinidad in tlaxcala, and had soooo much fun. i dont think ive ever heard so many different languages at once. the first night we went to huamantla to see the famous carpets, tapetes en español. it was this big fair and all the streets were closed and covered in colored sand, made into different patterns and designs. i think the only time ive ever been so close to so many people has been in a mosh pit, haha. although i was so tired by the end of the night, it was when i realized how excited i am to be here, how excited i am to take part in this culture. ive never wanted anything more in my life, and im so lucky.

so i promise i will give more details of my weekend, but its late and i have school tomorrow, entonces, hasta luego.

16 dias hasta voy!

i cannot believe how fast time has flown by. it really only seems like yesterday when mr. day called me at cvs to tell me i was no longer an alternate, but that i'd be going to the first country i put down on my preferance list, mexico. and yes, i'm soooo excited, and yes i'm nervous. yes, i'm every single emotion about it. the time has finally come where i can leave this town, leave this country, and achieve my dream of being able to speak spanish. when i was in ninth grade, i set that goal, and after learning about the culture of different places, and learning more of the language, and wanting to achieve that goal more and more, i've never been more grateful in my entire life. i had a dream last night about mexico, and i never remember my dreams. i arrived there, and i wasnt sad, or anxious, or nervous, i was happy. and i think that put a lot of my worries at ease. i know this is what i'm supposed to do with my life, and i'm the luckiest girl on the face of the planet. :D i've been talking with my host sister and brother, and i cannot wait to meet them. my host sister, maria jose, is leaving for germany 9 days after i arrive. warm weather, warm people, and spicy food. what more could i ask for? i'm going to have the time of my life! and yes, as much as i hate to admit it, i'll miss new york. this place has become my home. the people i love the most are here. but they'll be here when i get back.
